FISHING REPORT Just for the Halibut!! The Sports Fishing Last Season was STEADY!!
It was a season of "wind" and hard work even with days of highs and lows. Our customers landed over 100 Chinook in the 20 - 40 lb range. The largest weighed in at 58 lbs and was caught by Arthur Daykin from Houston, BC. In addition the Coho Salmon showed up as early as June 7 and stayed until August providing us with steady action and limits of 4 per day. Limits were caught in the species of Ling Cod, Snapper, and last but not least Halibut. The grand-daddy, (excuse me grand-ma... .females are the only ones that get that big)This halibut fishery was as good as ever. The average size was 30 - 50 lbs. Many groups were able to hook onto barn doors only to see them break off or have the hooks tear out half way up form the bottom.

GREAT NEWS!! If you were one of the few that were fortunate enough to fish last season you would have to assume this must mean the 2011 season is to be just as good and has to get better. Halibut stocks have increased. The salmon bite was slow but steady. We had to work hard producing results of limiting out clients who enjoyed fishing that produced many double and triple headers throughout the day including the odd quadruple. Well, according to all records, not only are there going to be more Chinooks but they will be showing up in great numbers as early as mid May. Even our own diaries and records that go back thirty years show that this fishery will be the year of plenty. Rumours through the fishing community is that there is going to be a large number of Chinooks, your king of springs, could be landed that weighs in over 100 lbs. The largest years are 78 pounds by Fred Plewis of Terrace BC and a whopping 92 POUNDER caught by Gary Olson of Idaho Falls Idaho. As well, |
the Coho outlook is expected to improve
